Coach Scott is a dedicated soccer coach and athlete, with over three decades of immersion in the beautiful game, and has been heavily involved in the Ridgecrest soccer community since 2014.
Scott’s journey began in 1989 as a young AYSO player, and began playing on competitive travel teams and going to tournaments as soon as he was able. He played 3 years of varsity high school soccer and 2 years of Premier club in Indiana and California. As an adult and in college, Scott played recreationally and competitively in the San Diego area in 11 v 11 and indoor leagues for nearly 10 years, and continues playing in competitive leagues and tournaments.
In 2014, Scott entered into the realm of coaching, quickly earning his “D” coaching license through US Soccer. He began with Phoenix FC U14, and then became a founding member of the IWV Soccer Club around 2015. Scott headed up teams for IWVSC at the U18, U16, and U14 ages, while assisting with all other levels as needed. Scott took on his current board role of Coaching Director in 2016, running coaching clinics, organizing soccer camps, and building a strong soccer foundation with other coaches, members, and players.
Scott has also made significant contributions to coaching athletes at the high school level. From 2014-2019 he coached as an assistant for the Varsity Girls at Burroughs High School, and took on the head coaching job for the Burroughs Boys Varsity in 2019, continuing in that role to this day, having two of the school’s most successful years in nearly two decades.
Scott’s coaching foundation centers around nurturing not only the technical aspects of the game, but also the holistic development of the players. Patience and understanding of one another, game flow and intricacies, and “the process” are critical, and a cohesive unified team will be far superior to any individual. Learn to be a student of the game, love and respect the game, and it will never let you down.
